Super Bowl Sunday

It’s Super Bowl Sunday. One thing I really miss about the USA is watching live football on Sundays. I/we resort to watching the early game on Sunday night and any other game I’m interested in (I’m a Pats and Broncos fan which makes for some confusion during some AFC match ups) on replay the following morning.

I also miss Super Bowl watch parties. Over here, the draw is much less with most of our non Portuguese friends hailing from South Africa or the UK. Plus, it runs too late to watch the whole game if you have to get up in the morning for any reason (it starts at 11:30pm local time). While some of the pubs in town play the game and it would make for an interesting scene of camaraderie, I now value my sleep over real time sports.

So, for us, it will be Super Bowl Monday over coffee and eggs tomorrow morning.

I’ll be honest. I was rooting for the Lions. So I’m disappointed that the 49ers are going up against the Chiefs. And as a Broncos fan I’m no Chiefs fan though I did root for them to win a few years back just for Andy Reid’s sake. So I’m all in on the 9ers this week. And while I’m rooting against the Chiefs, I’m also rooting for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. They seem so happy.
